Czech school headmasters meeting took place in Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Manchester. Together with our colleague Bc. Dagmar Pike, MA we have introduced the main aspects of our school lessons and also the reasons why it is important to support kids, who are coming back to the Czech Republic.

Comenius school UK start running project in Antananarivo, Madagascar. We are planning support children in day centres. Our aims are to increase children’s practical skills and their safety. Bienvenu and Lazid would love to learn how to read and write, they would both like to be doctors in the future. No dream is too big.

4. 3. 2019 Information session with Czech citizens in Manchester and Leeds

On 4th March 2019 in Manchester and 7th March 2019 in Leeds future consular Ivo Losman introduced new services provided by Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Manchester for Czech citizens. New Czech consulate is going to cooperate with British council, companies and cultural institutions.

11. 12. 2018 Wenceslas Window Opening in Bishop Auckland

On 11 December 2018 Comenius School UK was invited to attend a well-known window opening event in Bishop Auckland. Local community has once again decided to every advent day open one window dedicated to one country. The Czech one was designed to celebrate one of the patron of our history saint Wenceslas. On this occassion Comenius School was asked to personally open the window and to follow up with a short speech addressing local students who created the art. We were very pleased by the whole idea and we must appreciate the effort that local students put into the project.

1. 12. 2018 Saint Nicholas Day at Comenius School UK

Part of our project is also introducing Czech tradition to our students. That is why we celebrated with the children the Saint Nicholas Day at Lincoln Green Community Center. We were really pleased about the number of children who do not attend our school regularly who came to celebrate this beautiful tradition with us. Those who came could have enjoyed many activities and obviously the real treat was the magical trio of Nicholas and his two companions – angel and devil. All children then recieved a small present in return of promising that they would be good for the rest of the year.

3. 11. 2018 Halloween at Comenius School UK

On 3 November 2018 Comenius School held a Halloween party at Lincoln Green Community Center. There were various activities prepared for children. They could have tried scary bowling, spider-tossing or compete for the most terrifiyng laughter. At the end of the day, there was a sweet reward for all children who came.

27. 10. 2018 100 Year Anniversary of the Foundation of Czechoslovakia

On 27 October Comenius School celebrated 100 year anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia. The school organized a lantern march which finished at the memorial of pilot Arthur Louis Aaron where a wreath was placed.

Minos2020 – a community project that aims to help Czech citizens living in the United Kingdom

Recently, the representatives of Minos2020 have met with the Czech Prime Minister at the Czech Embassy in London to discuss the issues connected with Brexit and assuring legal rights to the Czech citizens. The project focuses on diminishing potential exodus of 30 000 Czech people from socially challenged communities to the Czech Republic. It may result in adverse conditions for adults, but especially for children who would be removed from their social surrounding which can negatively affect their future development.
